Brenda’s birthday
Sister Brenda is a native of Farranfore and is a proud Kerry woman, she has lived in College View since 2005. She did her nursing training in Cork and worked in many places including East Harlem, New Zealand, Ethiopia, Cork and Kerry.. When she retired from nursing she did chiropody and had many happy clients.
On the First of July this year, 2026, we celebrated her 100th Birthday. The day started with a sung Mass in Our Lady Crowned Church, after which she received the Papal Blessing, and a beautiful bouquet of flowers from the Parish Council. Later, she had a visit from the Lord Mayor of Cork, Damian Boylan, and the retired Bishop of Cork, Bishop John Buckley. The house was open to welcome family, neighbours and friends, who came from far and wide to congratulate Brenda. We had the joy to celebrate her life, which was given in loving service, and compassion to so many people. It was a day we will remember.
Brenda loves to play Scrabble, and this game surely helps to keep her mind alert and active. She is a challenge to us who play with her, as she wins 98% of the time.
